Non-linear vibrations of free-edge shallow spherical shells are investigated, in order to predict the trend of non-linearity (hardening/softening behaviour) for each mode of the shell, as a function of its geometry. The analog for thin shallow shells of von Kármán's theory for large deflection of plates is used. The main difficulty in predicting the trend of non-linearity relies in the truncation used for the analysis of the partial differential equations (PDEs) of motion. Here, non-linear normal modes through real normal form theory are used. This formalism allows deriving the analytical expression of the coefficient governing the trend of non-linearity. The variation of this coefficient with respect to the geometry of the shell (radius of curvature R, thickness h and outer diameter 2a) is then numerically computed, for axisymmetric as well as asymmetric modes. Plates (obtained as R→∞) are known to display a hardening behaviour, whereas shells generally behave in a softening way. The transition between these two types of non-linearity is clearly studied, and the specific role of 2:1 internal resonances in this process is clarified.  相似文献

The general conditions, obtained in Lacarbonara and Rega (Int. J. Non-linear Mech. (2002)), for orthogonality of the non-linear normal modes in the cases of two-to-one, three-to-one, and one-to-one internal resonances in undamped unforced one-dimensional systems with arbitrary linear, quadratic and cubic non-linearities are here investigated for a class of shallow symmetric structural systems. Non-linear orthogonality of the modes and activation of the associated interactions are clearly dual problems. It is known that an appropriate integer ratio between the frequencies of the modes of a spatially continuous system is a necessary but not sufficient condition for these modes to be non-linearly coupled. Actual activation/orthogonality of the modes requires the additional condition that the governing effective non-linear interaction coefficients in the normal forms be different/equal to zero. Herein, a detailed picture of activation/orthogonality of bimodal interactions in buckled beams, shallow arches, and suspended cables is presented.  相似文献

Resonant multi-modal dynamics due to planar 2:1 internal resonances in the non-linear, finite-amplitude, free vibrations of horizontal/inclined cables are parametrically investigated based on the second-order multiple scales solution in Part I [1] (in press). The already validated kinematically non-condensed cable model accounts for the effects of both non-linear dynamic extensibility and system asymmetry due to inclined sagged configurations. Actual activation of 2:1 resonances is discussed, enlightening on a remarkable qualitative difference of horizontal/inclined cables as regards non-linear orthogonality properties of normal modes. Based on the analysis of modal contribution and solution convergence of various resonant cables, hints are obtained on proper reduced-order model selections from the asymptotic solution accounting for higher-order effects of quadratic nonlinearities. The dependence of resonant dynamics on coupled vibration amplitudes, and the significant effects of cable sag, inclination and extensibility on system non-linear behavior are highlighted, along with meaningful contributions of longitudinal dynamics. The spatio-temporal variation of non-linear dynamic configurations and dynamic tensions associated with 2:1 resonant non-linear normal modes is illustrated. Overall, the analytical predictions are validated by finite difference-based numerical investigations of the original partial-differential equations of motion.  相似文献

The model in the first part of this paper is extended to account for SMA behavior under cyclic loading. To this end, three new state variables are introduced: internal stress B, residual strain ?r and cumulated martensite volume fraction ze. Several parameters of the extended model depend on ze, making them evolve with cyclic phase change. Cyclic SMA effects including training and two-way shape memory are accounted for and several numerical simulations are provided and validated in the case of cyclic superelasticity.  相似文献

The development of mathematical models for the design of controlstrategies for spark ignition automotive engines is described. The objectiveof the models, used for both simulation and optimization analysis, is theprediction of the effects of control strategies on fuel consumption andemissions of a vehicle over arbitrary driving cycles. In order to achievethe best compromise between precision, experimental costs, computationaltime and flexibility, a mixed modelling approach is used, withphenomenological and input-output models integrated within a hierarchicalsystem.Mean value models have been used to describe the most significant dynamiceffects: (i) air flow. (ii) two phases fuel flow in the intake manifold, and(iii) thermal flow in the cylinder walls. Stochastic effects due to sensorsand actuators can be also predicted.Two-zone and multizone thermodynamic models for the prediction ofpressure cycle sub-models for engine emissions (HC, CO, andNO x and mechanical losses have been developed. Experimentaldesign techniques are also under development to optimize the interactionsbetween experimental analysis and models. Most of the models have beenintegrated in a computer code, used by a major automotive supplier.  相似文献

In the present study a variational principle is proposed for the revised Goodman–Cowin theory with internal length for cohesionless granular materials (Fang et al. in Continuum Mech Thermodyn in press). The balance equations of the internal variables employed in the theory in equilibrium states, the equilibrium expressions of the constitutive variables and the corresponding natural boundary conditions are derived by use of the proposed variational principle for both cases of compressible and incompressible grains. It is demonstrated that the derived results coincide with those obtained by use of the thermodynamic analysis. The current work serves as a supplementary variational verification of the constitutive theory proposed in Fang et al. (in Continuum Mech Thermodyn in press).  相似文献

We discuss the motion of substance in a channel containing nodes of a network. Each node of the channel can exchange substance with: (i) neighboring nodes of the channel, (ii) network nodes which do not belong to the channel, and (iii) environment of the network. The new point in this study is that we assume possibility for exchange of substance among flows of substance between nodes of the channel and: (i) nodes that belong to the network but do not belong to the channel and (ii) environment of the network. This leads to an extension of the model of motion of substance and the extended model contains previous models as particular cases. We use a discrete-time model of motion of substance and consider a stationary regime of motion of substance in a channel containing a finite number of nodes. As results of the study, we obtain a class of probability distributions connected to the amount of substance in nodes of the channel. We prove that the obtained class of distributions contains all truncated discrete probability distributions of discrete random variable ω which can take values 0,1,,N. Theory for the case of a channel containing infinite number of nodes is presented in Appendix A. The continuous version of the discussed discrete probability distributions is described in Appendix B. The discussed extended model and obtained results can be used for the study of phenomena that can be modeled by flows in networks: motion of resources, traffic flows, motion of migrants, etc.  相似文献

Despite the common use of quadratic regression in LC–MS bioanalysis, how calibrator concentrations should be determined is still vague. Both the number and concentrations of calibrators are usually selected arbitrarily to each one's preference. The purposes of this research were to evaluate the impact of calibrator concentrations and to find new approaches with improved accuracy and reduced cost for LC–MS bioanalysis. It was found for the first time that the lower and upper limits of quantitation plus their geometric mean are the three critical concentrations for quadratic regression. When different concentration ranges, different response precisions, and various degrees of downward quadratic responses were simulated, the best accuracy was obtained by including these critical concentrations and using fewer calibrator concentrations with more replicates per concentration, instead of using more calibrator concentrations in duplicate. In many cases, when the aforementioned three concentrations are used, as few as two replicates per concentration are enough for routine use and up to 20% of time and cost can be saved. Furthermore, downward quadratic response should be eliminated or reduced as much as possible and upper limit quality control must be included in each batch to monitor the accuracy at the high concentration end. The retrospective data analysis of published experimental results corroborates the aforementioned findings. Finally, the typical “concerns” and potential applications of the new quadratic regression approaches are discussed.  相似文献

对前人建立的标准曲线法测煤中自由基浓度进行优化,以DPPH标准样品和基准样品的二次积分面积比值为新参数,结果显示新参数标准曲线法的实测值与理论值相对误差都在5%以内;重复性、复现性实验的相对标准偏差都小于3%。将新参数标准曲线法用于分析不同煤化程度煤和新疆黑山煤(HS)沥青质的自由基浓度,发现随着煤化程度增加,其煤中自由基浓度逐渐增大,从低阶褐煤的8.531×10~(17)/g上升到高阶无烟煤3.37899×10~(19)/g;而在HS煤液化过程中,随着加氢液化温度的升高,其沥青质自由基浓度逐渐下降,从290℃的1.5793×10~(18)/g降到450℃的7.410×10~(17)/g,沥青质自由基浓度变化趋势与其产率变化趋势相一致。  相似文献
